Dr Ian P Drysdale, BSc, PhD, ND, DO

Dr Ian Drysdale graduated from Queen Elizabeth College (now subsumed into King’s College) London University with a BSc (Hons) and then took a PhD from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and Northwick Park Hospital before completing the Diploma in Osteopathy (DO) and  Diploma in Naturopathy (ND), at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM, or BCNO as it was then) as an external student. Ian started lecturing at BCOM in 1971 and became the first full time lecturer at the college in 1974.  He progressed from lecturer and practitioner to Vice-Dean, to Dean of Academic Studies and CEO, and finally to full-time Principal in 1990.  Ian is committed to progressing high academic and clinical standards in complimentary medicine and led BCOM to two successive quinquennial General Osteopathic Council Recognised Qualification (RQ) events with “No Conditions”, a sector leading position at the time. He is a strong supporter of research within complimentary medicine and co-founded the International Conference on Advances in Osteopathic Research (ICAOR) in 1999, which has now completed its 11th iteration.  Ian has considerable experience with international colleagues in education and research and, since his retirement from BCOM, founded CEAR in 2015 following request from several European colleagues to support their aspirations of offering degree status qualifications.

Ian has published 15 Journal articles, 20 International Conference presentations and 17 International Conference posters (see extract below). He has led numerous Bachelor and Masters level university validation events with a 100% success rate at first attempt; has sat on degree validation panels for universities to Masters level; has supervised many Masters level student research projects; has co-supervised two PhD students to successful graduation; and has been an External Examiner for a range of subjects from Anatomy and research projects to Clinic and Osteopathy, in various countries from the UK to Europe and Australasia, and at various academic levels from BSc to PhD.
